We’re testing non-UK locations

By Benjamin Raisanen1 min read

A lot of IMBER’s code has been developed in-house, but we still source our data from third-party data providers, like national weather services. Some of our data providers run global models. This means that we have the technical capability to provide global forecasts. Subject to capacity, we’re starting with support for US and EU locations on the IMBER website.

Users in those countries will be recognised by the server when loading the site, and the relevant model will be selected for their location. While we assess demand, and address potential capacity issues, this will be limited to the NOAA’s GFS and AI GraphCast. This provides an overview of conditions at locations. High resolution models are planned for launch in the future, with our aim being to give global users increasingly advanced forecasts.
